Joan R. Haynes, age 76, of Rome, passed away peacefully, April 15, 2012, at the Eastern Star Home.
She was born February 24, 1936, in Riverhead, Long Island, New York, a daughter of Harold C. and Katherine R. King Robinson, and educated in Riverhead and Sag Harbor schools. Joan was united in marriage to Grady H. Haynes, on August 28, 1955, at St. John's Church in Riverhead; he died June 14, 2011. She was employed at Rome Memorial Hospital, retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Lee Legion Post 1794, American Legion Auxiliary and the Rome Post 2246, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Joan is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Susan LaClair of Oriskany, and Terri Lynn and Robert Spellicy of Titusville, FL; a son, Kevin H. Haynes of Omaha, NE; two sisters and brothers in law, Ann and Leonard Pavlakis of Riverhead, and Doris and Tom Hennessey of Clermont, FL; two brothers and sisters in law, John and Irene Robinson of South Jamesport, and Donald and Elaine Robinson of Riverhead; and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Eugene and Richard Robinson.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergeen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1 to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.
