Jerry L.Wrinkle, age 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2013.
Jerry was born in Georgia on August 18, 1930 to the late Jack and Geraldine Kendrick Wrinkle. He attended and graduated from the Hillsboro Schools in Tampa, FL. He also attended Herkimer County Community College. On June 6, 1953, he married the former Santa "Sadie" Lomando at the Church of St. John the Baptist on River Street. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring as a MSgt after 26 years. After his military service, he worked as a computer technician at Bassette Hospital in Cooperstown.
Jerry was a member of the Lee Legion, as well as the Lee Senior Citizens. He loved to golf and travel all over with his wife, Santa. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sadie; a daughter and son in law, Maria and John Platts of Shallotte, NC; a son, Gary Wrinkle of Cape Carteret, NC; two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Platts; a sister, Betty Hecker of Bradenton, FL; and a step brother, Bill Westlake of FL.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center. Burial with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 PM.
