Maggio, age 91, passed away on January 6, 2021, at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rome on August 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Lena (Troilo) and Vincent Rosati. Jean graduated with the Class of 1946 from Rome Free Academy and was employed as a bookkeeper for the Lerman Furniture Co. until her retirement in 1991. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and later, St. Paul’s Church. A lifelong resident of Rome, Jean spent much of her adult life as a caregiver for others. She will always be remembered for her extraordinary generosity, her willingness to help others, and for her great holiday dinners. She entered into marriage with Thomas Maggio on October 31, 1959; a blessed union of nearly 59 years until his passing on April 20, 2018. Jean is survived by her three daughters, Melanie (Michael) Fedele of Rochester, MaryBeth (Lee) Sattler of Mt. Airy, MD, and Jeanette Fischer of Whitesboro; her grandchildren, Alexander and Hayley Fedele, Alex Sattler, Tanya (John) McDonald, and Roger Fischer; a great grandson, Domenic Anderson; her two sisters, Dolores Taliani of Rome and Rita (William) Vullo of Burnt Hills, NY; nieces and nephews, Lori (Steve) Bruno, Vincent Taliani, Amy MacMillan, Valerie (Eric) Saenger, AnnMarie (Robert) Keil, Jonathan Maggio, Christopher (Cecelia) Maggio, and Roger (Nancy) Maggio. She was predeceased by her brother and sister in law, Frank and Betty Maggio; and a brother in law, Anthony Taliani. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. John’s. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 Noon to 2 PM prior to the funeral. Those attended are required to have a face covering and adhere to the social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or your local food bank. Please offer online condolences at: www.BarryFuneralHome.com .
