James E. Corbin



James E. Corbin, age 76, of Rome, passed away peacefully, April 7, 2011.



He was born September 13, 1934, in Rome, a son of John W. and Katherine E. Carlile Corbin. He was a therapy aide at Broadacres Nursing Home, retiring many years ago and later served as a School Crossing Guard for the Rome City School District. James proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed the many friendships he made during his many years of sports.



James is survived by his longtime companion, Betty Hodierne; an extended family; a brother John "Carl" Corbin of Rome; a special nephew and his wife, Bob and Nancy Henderson of Rome; and a niece and nephews



The funeral service will be held Monday at 12 Noon at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday 11 AM to 12 Noon, prior to the funeral service.



Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Rome Humane Society.
