Jacqueline Stevens, age 84, of Rome, departed July 5, 2011, to be with God, and to join her beloved husband, parents, sisters and brother, and close friends; all of whom she dearly missed.
She was born on December 1, 1926, in Eastwood, New York, a daughter of Patrick and Margaret Ellinger Canino, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1944. Jacqueline was united in marriage to Albert J. Stevens, on June 19, 1946 in Rome; he died December 2, 1979. She formerly was employed by General Cable, Rome Hospital and Rome Cable Corp, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Literacy volunteers of America.
Jacqueline taught music and piano was an accomplished artist. She adored her cats, loved travelling and dining out. Jacqueline enjoyed making people laugh and was like a bright light in a dark corner.
Jacqueline is survived by several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Falcone and Georgianna Paleczny and a brother, Paul J. Canino.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
