Jack R. Houser, age 85, of Blossvale, and formerly of Verona, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2013.
Jack was born April 27, 1928, the son of the late Fred (Happy) and Margaret Schiller Houser. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1946. He retired after operating and owning the Verona Hotel for 40 years.
He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jim Smith of Rome, special friend, John Vivyan, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jack divided his time between his home, visiting family and friends and his camp in Highmarket, NY.
He will be missed by his family, Debbie and Nick Lalyk of Henrietta, Patty Smith of Rochester, and Kathy and Paul McNamara of Seneca Falls; and their children Greg and Casey Lalyk, Sarah, Mike and Hannah Linnemeier and Brandon and Andrea McNamara; and extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church, 200 N. James Street, Rome. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Peter's Church from 10 to 10:30 AM.
