Howard L. Murer
Howard L. Murer, age 90, of Rome, passed away November 3, 2010, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, after a long illness.
He was born April 1, 1920, in North Western, a son of Marsellus and Violet Moyer Murer. Howard was united in marriage to the former Alberta Wollaber Scherz on June 16, 1974, in Holland Patent; she died March 24, 2003. He was a machinist at Rome Cable Corp, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Leo's Church in Holland Patent. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Howard is survived by daughter, Joanne Murer of Oklahoma; a stepdaughter, Noreen Crippen; a stepson, Spencer Scherz; a brother, Jake Murer of Oklahoma; a niece, Angela March of Oneida, who was Howard's caregiver, and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Eileen Murer; a son, James Murer; sisters, Loretta Keck, Florence Ricotta and Edna Scouten; a brother James Murer; and a stepson John "Buck" Scherz.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Westernville Cemetery
