Helen W. Matt, age 66, of Capron Road, Lee Center, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Bridgewater Nursing Home in Binghamton, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer.



She was born January 10, 1946, in Oneida, a daughter of the late Edwin E. and Mary Hubbs Williams, and graduated from Holland Patent Central School. Helen was united in marriage to Edward A. Matt, on August 20, 1966, in St. Joseph's Church; he died on December 7, 1999. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church.



Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Michael and Lori Matt of Vestal, and Jeffrey and Cathleen Matt of Ponte Vedra, FL; two daughters and a son in law, Nicole and Marc Page of Rochester, and Tamara Matt of Rome; six grandchildren, Audrey and Sophia Matt of Ponta Vedra, FL, Jacob, Alexander and Lucas Matt of Vestal, and Eliza Page of Rochester; two brothers and three sisters in law, Harold and Mary Williams of Holland Patent, Earl and Elizabeth Williams of Senoia, GA, and Sue Almony of Blossvale; seven brothers in law and six sisters in law, Stanley and Karen Matt of Lee Center, Robert and Nancy Matt of Rome, Richard and Angharad Matt of Remsen, James and Emma Matt of Ava, Earl and Marlene Matt of Ava, John Matt of Cooperstown, and Anna and Edward DeFraine of Ava; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin P. Williams, mother in law and father in law, Mary and John E. Matt, and a brother in law and sister in law, Lawrence and Marion Matt.



A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Friday 4 to 7 PM.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the American Cancer Society.
