Helen E. Lewandrowski
Helen E. Lewandrowski, age 74, of Rome, passed away November 17, 2010, after a brief illness.
She was born November 11, 1936, in Herkimer, a daughter of Boniface and Luella Obnowski Lewandrowski, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Helen was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base and retired after many years of service. She was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration and the Rosary Society.
Helen was known to all her nieces and nephews as "Choci Helen". She loved all her nieces and nephews and treated them as her own children. She was truly a great source of love and inspiration to her family and friends; she will be greatly missed.
Helen is survived by two sisters and a brother in law, Genevieve and Eugene Szczesniak of Rome, and Leokadya Kowal of Rome; two brothers and sisters in law, Stanley and Virginia Lewan of Whitesboro, and B. Edward and Sharon Lewandrowski of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Stella Evanciew and a brother, Edward Lewandrowski.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and 10:30 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 3 to 6 PM.
