Harold F. Cook, age 90, passed away peacefully, June 22, 2010, at his home, with his loving family at his side.
He was born October 2, 1919, in Fonda, NY, a son of Burt J. and Eva Kretser Cook, and graduated from Fonda High School and Utica College of Syracuse University. Harold was married to Edith Knudsen. He later married Florence Lund. He was a Fireman at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring several years ago. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Rome VFW Post #2246, Rome Elk's Lodge #96, and former member of Moran Post, American Legion.
Harold had a passion for music and played guitar in many area bands, including the John Jaski Band.
Harold is survived by his wife, Florence; a daughter, Diana Hilts of Oriskany; sons and a daughter in law, Berttie C. Cook of Lee Center, and LaVerne H. and Dianne T. Cook of Rome, stepsons, Arthur Taffi of NC, and Anthony Taffi of Rome; stepdaughter in law, Linda Taffi of NC; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Mount and brothers, Art and Howard Cook.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery.
