Grady H. Haynes, age 76, of Rome, passed away peacefully, June 14, 2011, with his loving family at his side.
He was born March 31, 1935, in Hodges, Alabama, a son of Pierce and Eva Ballard Haynes, and educated in Hodges, Alabama schools. Grady was united in marriage to the former Joan K. Robinson, on August 28, 1955, in St. John's Church in Riverhead, Long Island. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 24 years, and later worked as a paralegal in the Judge Advocate's Office at Griffiss Air Force Base until his retirement.
Grady was a member of St. Paul's Church, Lee American Legion Post 1794, Rome VFW Post 2246, North American Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association.
Grady is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters and a son in law, Susan LaClair of Oriskany, and Terri and Robert Spellicy of Titusville, FL; a son Kevin H. Haynes of Omaha, NE; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, LaFawn and Larry Haynes.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
