Guiliano Tomassi, 80, of Rome, passed away peacefully Wednesday. October 27, 2010, at home with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 10, 1930, in Terracina Italy, the son of Marco and Maria Gazzelloni Tomassi.
He immigrated to the United States in 1955 and was united in marriage on December 2, 1956 to Annunziata Sessa in West Orange New Jersey. Giuliano was a retiree of Tome Strip Steel Company. He was a veteran of the Italian Army.
Giuliano had a passion for gardening and was "famous" for his beautifully manicured garden, complete with fresh vegetables he tool great joy in sharing with his family and friends. He had a true admiration for Mother Nature and all of her beauty. Making homemade wine from grapes he grew on his very own vines was also one of his favorite pastimes.
He took great pride in preparing homemade "one- of - a - kind" Italian dishes for his family every Sunday. He will be fondly remembered for his signature smile that could light up a room and his love for the outdoors.
Surviving, besides his loving wife, Annunziata (Nancy) are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Giuliano (Jerry) and Brenda Tomassi, Rome, Anthony and Linda Tomassi, Lighthousepoint, Florida and one daughter Nancy Medolla, Rome, two sisters Paula Cignarale, Rome, Lidia Francioni, Italy, one brother, Anthony, Italy, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one son John Tomasssi, Rome, three brothers, Angelo Tomassi, New York City, Luciano Tomassi, Rome and Nino Tomassi, Italy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and 9:00 AM at The Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in The Cemetery of St. John the Baptist.
