Geraldine L. Haynes, age 79, of the Town of Western, passed away peacefully, at home, on July 9, 2026, with her family at her bedside.

Geraldine was born in Hennepin County, Minnesota, on January 19, 1947, to the late Clinton and Mildred (Alwin) Blais. She was raised and educated locally and graduated from Rome Free Academy.

On August 5, 1967, Geraldine was united in marriage to David B. Haynes. The two shared in a blessed union of over 54 years until his passing on November 30, 2021.

Geraldine spent her career as a Nurse’s Assistant, working for various locales, including the Rome State Hospital and Marcy Dayhab Center.

Geraldine was a talented seamstress and in her spare time she loved to sew; everything from quilts to Halloween costumes! She also loved to cook and could easily create extraordinary dishes for her family and loved ones.

Geraldine is survived by her three sons, Arden (April) Haynes of North Carolina, Charles (Gail) Haynes of Floyd, and Timothy (Erin Ashe) Haynes of Western; and four grandchildren, Carig, Logan, Heather, and Gabriella Haynes.

Per Geraldine's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. She will be laid to rest at Higgins Bay Cemetery in Piseco Lake alongside her husband, David.
