Gerald F. Johnson, age 97, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community.
He was born January 20, 1914, in Sodus, NY, son of Frederick and Golda Johnson. Gerald attended local schools. He was united in marriage to the former Irene Corr in 1934, in Rome.
Gerald was an employee of Rome Cable where he retired in 1969 after 26 years of service. Following his time at Rome Cable, he was employed by MGS Manufacturing. He was a proud Mason for over 50 years, belonging to the Baron Steuben Lodge #264.
He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Jerry R. & Mary Helen Johnson of Cincinnati, OH and Robert D. & Lucille Johnson of Vero Beach, FL. His grandchildren, Robert & Helen Johnson, Christie & Jack Johnson, Dr. Gerald & Beth Johnson, all of Cincinnati, OH, Robert & Pamela Johnson of Allen, TX, Brian & Erica Johnson of Plano, TX and 8 great-grandchildren.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Irene, special friend Irene Montgomery, his brothers, Clifford, Ronald, Donald & Vincent and his sister Belva Batherick.
The family sincerely thanks the Staff of the Masonic Home, for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Gerald.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 12:30 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday, 7 to 9 PM
