George "Butch" Schilling, age 72, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 16, 1944, in Rome a son of the late George and Winifred Scanlon Schilling, and graduated from Westmoreland schools. He was employed as a machinist at Bartell Machine Systems in Rome for many years. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and an avid bowler and NASCAR fan.
George is survived by a daughter and son in law, Kim and Alan Collie of Hickory, NC; a son and daughter in law, John and Amy Lawter of Whitesboro; a sister and brother in law, Mary and George Bellinger of Imperial, PA; grandchildren, Hayley and Abigail Lawter and Seth, Tori and Grace Collie; and 2 nephews, George and Patrick Bellinger.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday October 8, 2016, at 10:30 AM, at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
