Gary E. Stauty, age 66, of Floyd, passed away at home, September 14, 2010.
He was born in Norfolk, VA, the son of Vern and Geraldine O'Neill Stauty. Gary was united in marriage to the former Reina Mulvihill on October 18, 2008, in Floyd. He proudly served in the U. S. Military in the Navy, Marines are retired from the Army Reserve. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Navy and Marines and was awarded the "Purple Heart" for wounds suffered during battle, along with many other service medals. He later was employed at Morris Protective Agency. Gary was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rome Post #2246, Henry P. Smith Post #24, American Legion, Frank J Steczko Post, Polish-American Veterans and the Fort Stanwix Chapter #20, DAV.
Gary loved the outdoors and enjoyed the time he spent hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by his wife Reina; a son and daughter in law, Gerald and Robin Stauty of Clinton; a daughter, Jennifer Stauty of Rome; stepdaughters, Casey Mulvihill of Floyd and Chelsea Murtaugh of Rome; and grandchildren, Alexa Murtaugh and Jason Stauty; and many good friends.
The funeral service with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 5:00 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday, 2 to 5 PM, prior to the funeral
