Gail M. Baker, age 91, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the Abraham House of Rome, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gail was born in Rome, on July 27, 1934, to the late Thomas and Virginia Vandivier McCarney, and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1952. On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Edwin Baker; a blessed union of nearly 67 years that were filled with love and memories until his passing on May 2, 2021. Gail was employed by John J. Mastrangelo DPM for 25 years and then retired to Winter Haven, FL.

Gail was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 73 years and worked at the Copper City Community Center where she enjoyed many activities and volunteer hours.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Lynn Neidl; her son, Thomas (Deborah) Baker; her grandchildren, Terrance (Stephanie) Neidl, Jessica (Philip) Urtz, and Dr. Michelle (Edward) Baker Marsh; her great grandchildren, Eloise Marsh, Hunter Neidl, Piper Urtz and Isla Urtz; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and sorority sisters. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas McCarney; and son in law, Thomas Neidl.

Per Gail's wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter's Church at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
