Franklin "Frank" P. Mather, age 83, of Rome, passed away peacefully, December 5, 2012.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Utica, a son of Leo and Florence Mursch Mather, and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1947. Frank was employed by W. T. Byrnes Trucking in Utica, retiring after many years of service. He proudly served in the U.S Army and in Korea where he received many service awards including the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Frank is survived by nieces and nephews, Diane J. and Nicholas Gualtieri of Rome, Pamela D. and Arthur Whitney of Rome, and L. Donald Mather of Rome; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and sister in law, Leo Jr., and Jean (Rinker) Mather.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park in the Town of Kirkland.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 1 to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.
