Frances T. Bachman, age 93, of Rome, passed away peacefully October 21, 2015, in the Eastern Star Home.
She was born September 17, 1922, in Hastings, CO, a daughter of the late Edwin and Mary Delaney Toner, and educated in Colorado schools and nursing school in Denver. Frances was united in marriage to Adolph Bachman on October 31, 1944 in Yuma, AZ; he died March 28, 1978. She was a Registered Nurse at the former Oneida County Hospital and retired from the Rome CNYDSO after many years of service. She proudly served in the Army Nurses Corps during World War II. She was Life Member of the Lee American Legion, Post 1794 and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Frances is survived by a daughter and son in law, Barbara and Thomas Atwell of Rome; sons and daughters in law, Patrick and Mary Bachman of Edina, MN, David and Jennifer Bachman of Rome, and Charles Bachman of Utica; grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel and Kristy Atwell, Michele Smith, Charles, Shannon and Carrington Bachman; great grandchildren, Natasha, Payne, Owen Smith, Lily, Jake, Evelyn, Brycen Atwell, Dylan and Melissa Bachman; a special niece, Maxine, and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Susan and Deborah Bachman, and 4 sisters and 6 brothers.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the Eastern Star Home for their years of care, compassion and friendship extended to Frances.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
