Frances Ann Mayhew, age 76, of Rome, passed away peacefully, November 8, 2016, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center.



She was born May 1, 1940, in Rome, a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Shaw Morice, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1958. Frances was united in marriage to Gerard M. Mayhew, on June 4, 1960, at St. Mary of Mt Carmel Church in Utica. She worked at Griffiss Air Force Base for many years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist.



Francis is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerard; a daughter, Tina M. Mayhew of Rome; a son, Michael J. Mayhew of Rome; a grandson, Michael T. Mayhew; a special nephew and his wife, Nicholas and Lorraine Mayhew and a special niece, MaryAnn Mayhew Jones, and loving nephews, Jeffrey Krauch and David Krauch, Jr; and several cousins and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carol Krauch.



The Mayhew Family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Ashish Regulagadda and Dr. Mohammed Sedat as well as the staff at Rome Memorial and Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center for their excellent care of Frances.



Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:15 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Joseph Sestito, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday 2 to 5 PM.
