Florentine J. Beckwith, age 91, formerly of W. Dominick Street, passed away August 4, 2009, at Rome Nursing Home.
She was born September 8, 1917, in Rome, a daughter of Alfred C. and Margaret Oswald Freislich, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Florentine was united in marriage to Frederick E. Beckwith on August 19, 1939, in Rome; he died March 17, 2001. She was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Florentine is survived by a daughter and son in law, Joy and Darrell Grandfield of Verona; grandchildren, James Hayes, Cathy Gripko, Cheryl Palmer, Margaret Shutter and Jerald Hayes; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Eva Freislich Pink.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 3 to 6 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
