Florence Koberstein, age 83, of Herkimer and formerly of Rome, passed away December 18, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after a long illness.
She was born March 28, 1927, in Brooklyn, a daughter of Percy and Mary Markey Babcock, and educated in Brooklyn Schools. Florence was united in marriage to Charles W. Koberstein on July 30, 1949, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Brooklyn; he died October 19, 2004.
Florence loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed volunteering for various organizations. She enjoyed collecting teapots and family photos and memorabilia.
Florence is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Catherine and Bruce Withrow of Rome, Janet and Robert Capparelli of Virginia Beach, VA, and Helen Bremer and Norman Baldomir of Rome; four sons and daughters in law, Keith Koberstein of Jackson Heights, Charles and Linda Koberstein of San Diego, CA, John Koberstein of NYC, and Ronald and JoAnn Koberstein of Herkimer; two sisters, Jenny Marincel of Brooklyn, and Mildred Scott of New Jersey; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by several sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, and 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
