Evelyn Sambrosky

Evelyn Sambrosky began her next journey Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She was born August 20, 1936, in Ava, NY, the youngest of ten to Frank and Wladyslawa Kaczorowski. She attended a one room schoolhouse on Mullen Hill Road in Ava where the first words she spoke to the teacher were "spojrze? na birdie". She graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1952 at age 16. She was nicknamed "little angel", but despite her four foot eleven and three quarters stature, she was tough.

She retired from Rome Memorial Hospital. Her passion was clothing, shopping, and mail order catalogs and lived the Golden Rule, "If the shoe fits, buy it in every color". She believed a woman should never leave the house without lipstick.

Surviving are two daughters, sons-in-laws, and four grandchildren, Bernadette and David Flint of Ava, Keith Flint of Syracuse , Kyle Flint of Rome and Kaitlin Flint of Ava, Bernice and Mark Boyce of Greenville, NC, and Simon Boyce of Greenville, NC, her sisters Ann Johnson, Stella Goworek, Clara Hubal all of Rome, and Addie Bruszkiewicz, Chittanango. She was predeceased by her brothers James Kaczorowski, John Kaczorowski, and Joseph Kaczorowski and sisters Sopie Jeroszko and Mary Lamb.

Evelyn's family wishes to express a special, heartfelt thank you to Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility staff for their kindness, encouragement, and exceptional care.
