Elizabeth "Liz" Muttillo, age 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully October 5, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born July 22, 1934, in Rome a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Jones Rowlands, and was educated in Rome schools. Liz was united in marriage to Donald G. Muttillo on May 10, 1958, in the Church of St. John the Baptist; he died on November 19, 2014. She was a secretary for many years with Rome Iron Mills and later, D'Arcangelo & Company.
Liz enjoyed the many friends she made over the years playing cards and Bocce. She also was an avid New York Yankee fan.
Liz is survived by a daughter and son in law, Karen and Richard Sheckells of Cooperstown; a son and daughter in law, Donald T. and Licia Muttillo of Tega Cay, SC; a sister, Jean Wojdyla of Rome; grandchildren, Alexis and Darcy Muttillo and Derek, Graig and Daniel Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Rowlands.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, from 1 to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
