Elizabeth (Betty) Simpson Hall
Elizabeth (Betty) Simpson Hall, age 81, of Doxtator Street, passed away with her loving family at her side and went peacefully to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 1, 2009.
She was born, April 27, 1927, in Rome, a daughter of Stuart F. and Rose G. Conners Simpson. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Names and attended Oswego State College. Betty was united in marriage to Alfred C. Hall, on November 27, 1947, in St. Peter's Church; he died on December 17, 1989. She formerly worked was a switchboard operator for New York Telephone and Rome Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter's Church.
Betty was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed designing gowns. She loved to cook all kinds of elaborate cakes and desserts. Betty loved to travel and made several trips to Ireland and Scotland and brought back many treasured memorials.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Karen Deane of Rome, and Lori Alessi of Taberg; a son, William C. Hall of Half Moon, NY; grandchildren, Robin Rich Taylor, Christopher Cummings, Rachel Viekko, Staci Durso, Kerri Viekko, Rachel Hale, Justin Cianfrocco, Aleisha Cianfrocco, Brittany Bonanza, Nicole Alessi, Marissa Alessi and Heather Alessi; great grandchildren, Zabrina Parks, Ashley Viekko, Tori Viekko, Madison and Ella Hale and Chase A. Harrington. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Simpson.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
The family wishes to thank the staff on 2 North at Rome Memorial Hospital for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Betty during her illness.
