Elaine R. Bathrick, age 60, of New Hartford, and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully, December 31, 2009, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 18, 1949, in Rome, a daughter of Donald and Naomi Routh Bathrick. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1967, and Alderson-Broaddus College, in Philippi, WVA, where she had the opportunity to study a semester abroad in Austria. She also received a NYS Nursing Home Administrative Certificate in 1974. Elaine was the Assistant Administrator and Director of Social Services at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, where she had a passion and compassion for the care of the elderly and their unique needs. She was a member of the New York Association of Long Term Care Administrators and the New Hartford United Methodist Church. She was an avid New York Giants fan and loved to bowl.
Elaine is survived by her parents, Donald and Naomi Bathrick of Rome, three sisters and two brothers in law, Janice Voorhees of New York Mills, Duayna and Steve Wing of Conifer, CO, and Nadine and Tom Oppito of Rome; an aunt, Anna Mae Bathrick-Harvey of Rome; nieces and nephews, Jeremy and Marie Voorhees, Steven and Gina Wing, and Kristin, Zachary and Celeste Oppito; and a grand niece, Rozella Naomi Wing; and several beloved cousins. She was predeceased by a very good friend, Ray Kraemer.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 PM at the Rome Alliance Church, 920 Turin Road, Rome. Burial will be in the Spring, at Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Monday 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Faxton Hospital Rehab, and the staff of the 6th Floor at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Elaine during her illness.
