Edward H. Cole, age 78, of Rome passed away peacefully, at home on August 5, 2011, with his loving family at his side.
He was born February 9, 1933, in Utica, a son of Leroy and Esther Mathewson Cole, and educated in Utica schools. Ed was united in marriage to the former Donna Marie Geary, on September 22, 1956, in Whitesboro. He was employed as a lineman for Niagara Mohawk, retiring after 38 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army
Ed loved the outdoors and was his happiest when he was hunting and visiting his camp on Sandy Pond.
Ed is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters and sons in law, Christine L. and Steve Wojdyla of Rome, and Judith and Kim Crawford of Stillwater; two sons and daughters in law, Ronald E. and Karen Cole of Franklin, TN, and Timothy G. and Dana Cole of Camden; grandchildren and spouses, Tom and Ginger Cole, Elizabeth Cole, Kathryn Cole and Brittany Cole, Brett and Michelle Crawford, Rachel Crawford and Cole Crawford, Sarah and Eric Otero, Meghan DePaul and fiance´e, Ben Pokines, Abigail DePaul, Timothy Cole, Jr, and Matthew Cole; and a great grandson, Timothy Cole. He was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Whitman, a brother, Jack Cole and great granddaughter Liliana Grace Otero.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 7:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday 4 to 7 PM, prior to the memorial service.
