Edna C. Thaler, age 88, of Rome, passed away November 2, 2009, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1921, in Rome, a daughter of Joseph A. and Marion Gay Conover, and educated in Rome schools. Edna was united in marriage to Arnold S. Thaler, on October 21, 1939, in Rome; he died November 20, 1980. She was employed at the Graves Insurance Agency, retiring after 40 years of service.
Edna was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Rome Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in 1999. She also enjoyed working in her gardens and taking care of her home. She always cherished the times she spent with her family and neighbors.
Edna is survived by a sister and brother in law, Constance and Anthony Simiele of Rome; a sister in law, Norma Conover of Oneida; a special niece, Connie Posella of Rome; and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Allen, Francis, Paul and Richard Conover.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
