Edgar Emmet Smith
Edgar Emmet Smith, aka "Ed two shoes" 86, of Rome and formerly of Cicero, passed away peacefully, June 23, 2015, at Rome Memorial hospital, with his loving family at his side.
He was born April 7, 1929, in Ft. Covington, NY, a son of the late Simon R. and Mary Elizabeth McKulip. Edgar was united in marriage to the former Mary Elizabeth Lowe; she died February 27, 2001. He worked for many years at Byrne Dairy and later at New Process Gear in Syracuse, retiring after many years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Mattydale VFW Post 3146, the Mattydale American Legion Post 1832, and the Chrysler Corporation Retiree Club.
Edgar is survived by a daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Christopher Ford of Rome; a son and daughter in law, Joseph L. and Carmella Smith of Jamesville; a sister, Sister MaryEllen of New Rochelle; and a brother and sister in law, Michael F. and Marie Smith of Rochester; grandchildren, Matthew J Smith, Jennifer L. Smith, Megan E. Ford, Charles L. Ford, Rebecca L. Ford and Ian-Mitchell Ford; and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Mose, and two brothers, Simon A. Smith and Alton E. Smith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
