Earl W. Campbell, age 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at Bethany Gardens.
Earl was born in Rome on March 24, 1934, to the late Earl E. and Anna Engelbrecht Campbell, and educated in the Rome Schools. On September 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley A. Baker at St. Peter's Church in Rome; a blessed union of over 64 years until her passing on November 11, 2020. he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1958. Earl worked for many years at Varflex where he was a foreman.
Earl enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and golf. He was a Life Member of the Lake Delta Fire Department where he held many roles including President and Fire Police Captain.
Earl is survived by his sons, Brian (Michele) Campbell of Rome, and Keith (Ruth Stewart) Campbell of Mohawk; his grandchildren, Jessica (John), Heather (Steven), Michael C. (Sarah), Sarah (Jarred), Michael G., and Jenae (Mackenzie); his great grandchildren, McKenzie, Gabriella, Ariannah, Bentley, Riley, and Noah; his friend, Shirley; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Grogan.
Earl's funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 6 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 6 prior to the funeral service.
Memorial contributions in Earl's name may be made to the Lake Delta Fire Department.
