Douglas P. Hughes, age 60, of the Town of Western, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the Westchester Medical Center.

Doug was born on December 5, 1965, in Lowville to the former Julie Fazekas, and graduated from Holland Patent High School. He worked as a materials handler for Orion Bus Industries until its closing, and then worked at UPC in Boonville as a maintenance worker.

Doug had a creative side and enjoyed wood-working. He made many memories and shared stories with his friends over a few cold beers, and he also loved to snowmobile and ride his four wheeler.

Doug is survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Ann Goff; his mother, Julie; his nieces and nephews with whom he was close with, Kenny Witek II, Melissa Witek, Leah Witek, Sawyer Nestle, and Jaidyn Nestle; his dog, Macy; his close friends, Timothy and Tony Weaver, Travis Teller, and Vaughn Deraway; and many aunts and uncles and several cousins.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, November 6, from 1 to 2 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. A service will follow at 2 PM.
