Donald H. Joslyn

Donald H. Joslyn, age 84, of the Town of Lee, passed away at home on August 6, 2026.

Don was born in Rome on September 12, 1941, to the late Harold and Florence (Thomas) Joslyn, and graduated from RFA. Don began his career working at Victory Market and then worked as a salesman for several companies including Montgomery Ward, Rome Sentinel and Adelphia.

He was a man most at home under an open sky, whether casting a line at his favorite fishing spot or spending crisp mornings in the woods during hunting season. He loved the freedom of the road, especially when riding his Harley-Davidson, and he never missed a chance to cheer on the Buffalo Bills or watch NASCAR-always rooting for his favorite driver, Chase Elliott. Deeply committed to service and camaraderie, he was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 1794, where he served as a past commander, as well as a charter member and active member of the Legion Riders. He also found friendship and community through the Rome Elks Club and the Stanwix Men's Club. His life was defined by loyalty, laughter, and the simple joys of being outdoors and surrounded by people he cared about.

Don is survived by his daughters, Diane (Ronald) Butler of Westernville, and Barbara (Ed Stabb II) Becker of Durhamville; his son, Dennis (Sabrina) Joslyn of Canastota; his sister Joann (Joseph) Mooney; his brother Ronald (Kathy) Joslyn; his grandsons, Michael (Danielle) Waterman, James Becker, Ronald (Ashley) Butler, Jr., Donald Butler, and Aaron Butler; his great grandson, Jordan Waterman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Robert and a great grandson, Connor.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, August 12, from 12 to 2 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. A service will be held at 2 PM following visitation. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee. Friends are invited to the Lee Legion following the service.
