Weisenburger, age 66, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2021, at Rome Health, after a brief illness.Don was born in Syracuse on May 15, 1955, to David and Lena Neill Weisenburger. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and received his Doctorates of Chiropractic from Northwestern Chiropractic College, and ran a successful practice in Rome for many years, known to many as a master at his craft, his patients referring to him as “Doc.”Don was an avid antique collector and loved going to garage sales and shows, especially in Bouckville. He had a collection of antique cars as well, all of which he cherished. Don took pride in his homes, and enjoyed keeping them in tip top condition, always with some project in progress. He was a hardworking, devoted, selfless man and always would lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice. Don also enjoyed traveling and enjoying the good food and wine each destination had to offer. His favorite trip was a cruise in the Mediterranean. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, son, and brother.Don is survived by his love, Renee Taraska; his daughter, Kristin Weisenburger of Cassville, NY; a son, Logan (Shayna Mortis) Weisenburger of Rome; a step daughter, Maxine (Keith McCormick) Taraska; his grandchildren, Lawrence, Olivia, Logan Jr., Lincoln; a step-granddaughter, Alyssa; his mother, Lena; a sister, Diane (Bill) Lux of Westernville; a brother, David Weisenburger Jr. of Minneapolis, MN; two nephews Will and Jake Lux; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his good friends, Susan and Bob Burgess of Bradenton, FL. He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Daniel Weisenburger.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut St. A private burial will take place at a later date.Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
