Donald L. Miller, age 82, of Floyd, passed away peacefully, October 4, 2009, at Sunset Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born July 31, 1927, in Cortland, a son of Lester and Harriett Draper Miller, and graduated from Moravia High School and Cortland State Teachers College in 1953. Don was united in marriage to the former Lucy E. Fuller, on August 14, 1954, in Moravia, NY; she died on January 27, 2004. He was an elementary school teacher at Canajoharie-Ft. Plains schools and later at Holland Patent Central School District, retiring in 1983 after 16 years of teaching. He was a member of Floyd United Methodist Church, Life Church, and a member of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship. He actively volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse, and prison ministry. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Don is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Chris and Robin Miller of Tully, and Mark Miller of Rome; two sisters, Virginia Doughty of Moravia, and Marion Reynolds of Moravia; two grandchildren, Alice C. Miller, MD and Chris Miller II; and a great grandson, Andrew Polak.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at the Floyd United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery.
