Donald P. Matt, age 71, of Rome, passed away November 18, 2010, after a long illness.
He was born June 27, 1939, in Rome, a son of Reinhart and Victoria Marshall Matt, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Don was united in marriage to the former Carol A. Thomas, on December 25, 1961, in Rome; she died September 5, 2010. He was a well known self employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Don loved being around his family and friends. He will be greatly missed
Don is survived by his mother, Victoria; a daughter and son in law, Kathleen and James Jaynes of Rome; four sons and daughters in law, Thomas and Joanie Matt of Rome, Steve and Julie Matt of Rome, Michael Matt and fiance´e Tammy Mahon of Calcium, NY, and Richard and Kelli Matt of Rome; a sister, Joan Pinti of Rome; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 8:00 PM, from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 5 to 8 PM, prior to the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
