Donald J. Annis, age 70, of Westernville, passed away October 18, 2009, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1929, in Rome, a son of Floyd P. and Alice H. Holland Annis, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1958. Don was united in marriage to the former Beverly Vaeth, on June 25, 1960, at St Joseph's Church in Lee Center. He was employed by Rever Copper Products, retiring after 40 years of service.
Don was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.. He loved being outdoors and in the woods. He was an expert hunter and fisherman and looked forward to every deer season. He was a member of the NRA and the Trenton Rod and Gun Club. Don won many marksmanship awards over the years and was a long time instructor for hunting and firearm safety courses. His other intersts include gardening, woodworking and hand woodcarving. Don could fix or build most anything; and he proudly did it with perfection!
Don is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverly; a daughter, Jill Christina House of Westernville; grandchildren, Anthony James House and Mandee Suzanne House; a great grandson, Chandler Don Havener; a very special family friend, Rose Anna Tanner; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many great friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Howard and Erwin Annis.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Westernville Cemetery.
