Donald Bush, age 94, previously of Westmoreland, NY passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Utica, NY.

He was born in Sayre, PA in 1931, to the late George and Lorena Bush. Don was a graduate of Sayre High School in 1950. He was united in marriage to his wife Jean Bush at Episcopal Church in Waverly, NY in 1953; a blessed union of over 66 years until her passing in 2020. He joined the US Air Force out of high school and became a graduate of DeVry Technical Institute in Radio and Television Technology during his time in the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force and graduating from Syracuse University (Utica College) with a degree in Physics, he worked as a field engineer for Radiation, Inc in Verona, NY, and later as an electronic design engineer for General Electric in Utica, NY. He began work as an Air Force Government civilian in 1962 when he joined the Rome Air Material Area on Griffiss AFB as an electronic engineer. He later joined Rome Air Development Center (RADC) as a data processing electronic engineer and worked there until retiring from Government Service. After his retirement from the Government, he was employed as an engineer with Riverside Research Institute out of Rome, NY for several more years before entering full retirement. Don also became a licensed professional engineer during his career.

Don was a charter member of Kiwanis of Westmoreland and a former Scoutmaster. He was also a member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Rome, NY. Don enjoyed gardening his blueberries and apple trees, fishing, making bird houses, and flying as a licensed recreational pilot.

Don is survived by his sons, Keith (Susan) Bush, Brian (Eileen) Bush, and Andrew Bush; his grandchildren, Kara (Mike) Hoffman, Nancy Bush, Sarah Bush, Erin (Josh) Gagnon, and Megan (Andrew) Surprenant; his great grandchildren, Leni Callahan, Trevor and Emma Gagnon, and Kaylee Hoffman; and his sister, Lois (Richard) Coyle. He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Cobb and Arlene Harford.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
