DeFrees, age 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021 at the Oneida Health Extended Care Facility.Dolores was born in Lowville on June 3, 1936 to the late John and Mary Gorzalkowski Potocki, and graduated from RFA. On April 12, 1958 she was united in marriage to Adelbert J. DeFrees; a blessed union of over 54 years until his passing on November 29, 2012. Dolores worked for the NY Telephone Company and Verizon where she did payroll and scheduling.Dolores was a member of the Stanwix Heights Ladies Auxiliary. She loved reading, playing cards, doing puzzles, going to the casino, golfing, bowling, and horseshoes.She is survived by her sister, Priscilla (Lysle) Parker of Rome; and 12 nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Patricia Potocki.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 2nd and 5th floors at the Oneida Healthcare Center for their care and compassion shown to Dolores over the last several years.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
