Mayers, age 65, of Rome, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022, at the Abraham House of Rome, after a courageous battle with cancer.Diane was born in Rome on October 16, 1956 to the late Donald and Delores Dilatush Cieri, and received her Master’s Degree from Colgate University. She worked as a teacher for EC (Exceptional Children) students in High Point, NC.Diane has a love for animals, which she has had several throughout her life including many dogs and cats as well as ducks, hedgehogs, and turtles to name a few. When she wasn't befriending and taking care of animals, she was developing and fostering tons of friendships. Diane was also active in her local P.E.O., AU chapter.Diane is survived by her cat, Captain Jack Henry of Rome, NY and her son, Colton Mayers of Greensboro, NC; a sister; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.A Memorial service will be held on July 23rd at the First Presbyterian Church at 11 AM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Abraham House of Rome, 417 N.
