Deborah J. Wold, age 65, of Rome, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2012, with her loving family by her side.
Deborah was born on January 16, 1947 to Robert and Eileen (VanDresar) Spriggs. She grew up in Rome and attended St. Aloysius Academy and Rome Catholic High. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school and received her license as a hairdresser. She was united in marriage to Donald Wold on September 16, 1967 at St. Peter's Church. As well as being a hairdresser, Deborah worked at the Rome DDSO and the CNY Psychiatric Center.
Deborah loved to knit and was an avid cook. She was a die-hard tennis fan but her greatest love was her family and friends, which she enjoyed spending time with. She was a very friendly person and did not want to turn anyone away.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Donald; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Denise and John Fair of Bristow, VA, Donna and Rick Smith of Bluffton, SC, and Diane Rivera and companion Josh Brandy of Rome; nine grandchildren, Donald Wold, Brian and Jenna Ingham, Nick Smith, Peter and Samantha Cianfrocco, Nico, Marcus and Noah Rivera; a sister, Rosemary Spriggs of Rome, aunt and uncle, Sharon and Richard Poppleton; a great grandchild on the way, Lucas Tyler Rivera and several special cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her childhood best friend, Sheila Kohli.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or The Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter.
