David F. Prof"" Weisenburger

David F. "Prof" Weisenburger, age 80, of Rome, passed away February 27, 2012, from complications of Leukemia.



He was born November 26, 1931, in Pulaski, a son of Alfred and Mabel Fox Weisenburger, and graduated from Sandy Creek School and Oswego State. David married Lena (Nancy) Neill on June 30, 1951, in Sandy Creek. He taught Industrial Arts and subbed at Rome Free Academy, with love and respect of education, retiring after 50 + years of service. David served in US Army in the Korean War, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Lee Legion, Rome VFW and Rome Elks, serving as Scholarship Chairman for 34 years and received the Elk of the Year Award.



David is survived by his wife Nancy; a daughter and sons in law, Diane and Bill Lux of Westernville; Three sons David F., Jr. of Mpls, MN, Dr. Donald A., and Daniel J. Weisenburger of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Darcy M. and Craig Stevens of Pulaski; a brother and sister in law, James L. and Julia of NC; grandchildren, Logan and Kristin, and Will and Jacob Lux; great grandchildren, Olivia and Lawrence; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Holly. David was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence.



Funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, in the Spring.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 PM.



In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in memory of David, may be made to the Rome Humane Society or the Rome Elks Renovation Fund.
