David Rae Brown



David Rae Brown, age 66, of Rome, passed away April 19, 2010, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, after a brief illness.



He was born December 20, 1943, in Oneida, a son of Leonard and Helena Austin Brown, and educated in Westmoreland schools. David was married to the former Lorraine SanEmeterio on March 7, 1969, at the First United Methodist Church of Rome. He was a welder and was employed at the former Pettibone Corp. and most recently at Orion Bus. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. He was a life member of the Rome Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 2246, and the Henry P. Smith Post 24, American Legion.



David was an avid baseball fan and Chicago Bears football fan. He played baseball and football in his high school days and later played in area softball leagues. He also had many great times and enjoyed the friends he made during his many years of bowling.



David is survived by his wife, Lorraine; a daughter and son in law, Kellie Renay and Christopher Osborne of Lawton, OK; a son and daughter in law, Kevin and Tomacina Brown of Rome; two sisters and a brother in law, Barbara and Ed Hodierene of Taberg, and Diane Gerlach of Bainbridge, PA; a brother and sister in law, Dale and Gwen Brown of Oneida; grandchildren, Mason David, Realynn Ruth, Cayden Jay and Tiffany Angelina and a great granddaughter, Gianna Angelina; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew, UCT-1 PO1C Alec Mazur, USN.



The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Westmoreland Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 4 to 7 PM.
