David L. Brand, age 72, of Rome, passed away September 23, 2009.
He was born October 29, 1936, in Rome, a son of William and Adele Porter Brand, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1955. He served in the Rome Fire Department, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Retired Rome Police and Fireman Association and the Baron Steuben Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
David is survived by his companion, Barbara Evans and her family, Laurie and Scott Rice, Lindsay Bliss and Kurt Bliss; a sister, Margaret Hurlbut of Tucson, AZ; three brothers, William Brand of Skaneateles, John Brand of Wingdale, and Henry Brand of Bowie, MD.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 1 to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the Staff at Bethany Gardens, especially, Jessica, Jane, Jean, Greg, Cliff, Kelli, Kristi, Sadie, Carol, Becky and Dr. Podkowka, for their care compassion and friendship extended to David during his illness.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Fire and Police Benevolent Association
