Dana L. Matt, age 37, of the Town of Lee, passed away March 1, 2017, at Albany Medical Center, after a brief illness.
She was born July 24, 1979, and graduated from Rome Catholic High School, earned a bachelor degree at Syracuse University and a master degree at SUNY IT. Dana was united in marriage to Eric J. Matt, on June 11, 2005, at St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center.
Dana was an active person. She loved spending time and knitting, with her grandmother, Cecelia, taking care of her rescue dog, Toddie and cheering on her beloved S.U. football and lacrosse teams. She also was a strong supporter of the Holland Patent High School lacrosse team, where her husband, Eric, coached.
Dana is survived by her loving husband, Eric; her mother and step-father, Diane and Robert Hoag of Lee Center; her father Victor Leone, Jr., of Utica; grandparents, Cecil and Cecelia Bunal of Rome; step sisters and husbands, Kelly and Daryl Eichhorn of Rome, Tami Hoag and fiance´, Brian of Floyd, and Nikki and Thomas Martello of VT; step brothers, Scott and Holly Hoag of Rome, Peter Leone of Middleville, and Victor Leone III of PA; mother in law and father in law, Audrey and Karl Matt of Lee Center; sisters in law, and brothers in law; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and her beloved English Chocolate Lab, "Toddie". She was predeceased by a special nephew, Ryan Matt and her beloved dogs, Bella and Bauer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Robert Kelly at 2:00 PM, at St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
Relatives or friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome or the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York.
