Dan E. Libby, age 69, of the Town of Floyd, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2025, after a long illness, with his loving family at his side.
Dan was born in Rantoul, IL, on April 29, 1955, to the late Ralph and Elizabeth “Betty” Loveland Libby. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1973. On May 22, 1976, he was united in marriage to the former MaryAnn Lichko. Dan worked at several companies throughout his career, most recently as a machine operator at Spargo Wire.
Dan loved taking long walks especially with his beloved dogs. He enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers, and woodworking and crafted several walking sticks. His greatest pride and joy was his family and he loved every moment he spent with them.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, MaryAnn; his daughter, Nichole (Bob) Dousharm; his son, Eric Libby; his grandchildren, Faith, Matthew, and Kiley; his brothers, Mark Libby and Scott (Lynette) Libby; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Steve and Ralph Libby.
Dan's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to his neighbors, Tammy and Gary, the Floyd Fire Department, Floor 8W at the Wynn Hospital, Drs. Butala, Tallandini, Anwar and Emil Wassel, and Nurse Practitioner Jullien Mowatt, for all their care, support and friendship shown to Dan and his family during his illness.
Per Dan's wishes, funeral services will be private.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
