Christy J. Willey, age 37, of the Town of Kirkland and formerly of Rome, passed away May 20, 2016.
She was born July 30, 1978, in Hanover, New Hampshire, a daughter of James L. Willey and Marion Willey. She graduated from Rome Free Academy and Lyndon State College in Vermont. Christy was employed at BNY Mellon as a production coordinator. She was a member of Cross Point Church in Whitesboro.
Christy, an avid reader, enjoyed many activities, including crafting, photography, swimming, fishing and four wheeling. She also was an active member of her church community.
Christy is survived by her mother, Marion E. Willey and Khale Davison of Rome; her father, James L. Willey and Lori Jones of New Hartford; a sister, Candice and Justin Buckley of Savannah, GA; a brother, James L. Willey, Jr. and Amy Thrasher of Westmoreland; aunts and uncles, Kathy Boulet, Barb Walker, Kay and Harry Dehaven and Robert Diffey; a favorite niece, Shelby J. Buckley; treasured friends, Rosario Thrash and Murielle Gregoire her "second Mom" and devoted pet, Thumper. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Lyle and Doris Willey, and Beverly Boulet; and a brother, Jason Willey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, 10 to 11 AM, prior to the funeral service.
