Charles (Chas) J. Hilts, 51, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2009, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1958, in Rome, a son of Helen Hilts. He was educated in Rome schools. He was a longtime employee of Francis Construction. Chas was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing camping along with many other outdoor activities. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chas leaves two sisters and two brothers. Valerie Allen and Jeff Francis of Durhamville, Roxanne and Michael King of Rome, Jay and Patti Allen of Sauquoit, and Scott Allen of Rome. Also, many nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Dana, Nicholas, JJ, Shelbie, Tyler and Zack, along with 2 great nephews, Nathan and Blake. He also leaves behind many close friends who referred to him as "Red Bone", and his beloved dog, Jake. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen I. Hilts Allen, and a sister, Michelle.
Charles's living wish was to be cremated upon his death, with no calling hours; as he would like to be remembered as alive and filled with life.
Funeral services will be private.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
