Chad M. Ferguson

November 1, 1978 — December 23, 2024

Chad M. Ferguson, age 46, of Oriskany, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Chad fought his battle against cancer with unwavering courage and never lost his infectious laughter or sense of humor.

Chad was born in Rome on November 1, 1978 to Charles and Jo Ann Kozdra Ferguson, and graduated from Oriskany Central High School, where he made many life long friendships. Chad was employed by Yanuk Excavating where he quickly formed life long friendships with Yuri Yanuk, George Yanuk and the crew. Previously, he was the owner of Ferguson's Bobcat Service and previously employed by MVM.

Chad had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed re-building and riding Honda 3-wheelers, was a Mr. Fix it with his one of a kind solutions, golfing, snowmobiling, riding on his golf cart, grilling his one of a kind steak, his dog Digger, forestry work and off roading in his jeeps. Chad was a long time Sons Member of the Oriskany Legion Post 1448 and the Oriskany Sno Drifters.

Out of all Chad’s roles his favorite was being an Uncle. He loved his time spent with his niece Ashlynn, “Ashy-poo” and their very special bond.

Chad was survived by loving girlfriend, Kimberly Ford of Oriskany, whom he found his once in a lifetime true love with. He cherished every moment his “Kimmy-Kins” was by his side with her love, strength and encouragement. He his also survived by his mother, Jo Ann Ferguson of Oriskany; his sister, Jamie (Chris) Andrews of Oriskany; his niece, Ashlynn Andrews of Oriskany; and his uncle and aunt, John and Carol Ferguson of Madison.

Chad had many special friends who were like brothers to him: Chris Andrews, who was more than a brother in law, Michael Woods, Scott Keller, Ryan Walters, and many more. Chad also had special bonds with the Ford Family: Greg Ford, Travis Ford (Jenn), Kerri Ford (Mike Woods) and Kelly Ford (Bob Kitchen).

While Chad left us far too soon, the impact he had on his friends and family will be forever. Throughout his journey he put his family first, made everyone around him laugh with his witty comebacks and showed courage and strength.

Chad's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Upstate University Hospital and Cancer Center with a special thank you to Dr. Rahul Seth and Dr. Taryn Linquist.

A Celebration of Chad's life will be held on Thursday, January 2, at 5 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
