Carolyn A. Secrest, age 87, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Bethany Gardens, after a long illness.
She was born September 22, 1931, in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Reverend Joseph and Eunice Bonner Short. On January 31, 1953, she married Nelson LaSalle; he passed away on August 17, 1968. On December 7, 1969, she married Harold Secrest; he passed away on January 30, 1998. Carolyn worked for many years at Rome Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1968.
Carolyn is survived by several cousins; special friends, Ralph and Janet Schissler, Jr of Rome, Kenneth and Diane Hurlbut, and daughters, Lyndsey and Kyerstan, and Aimee and her son, Nathan of Rome, and Ralph Schissler III and fiance´e, Beverly Merrill of Jay, NY.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church Religious Education Department in Rome.
