Carol Hurlbut, age 72, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019, with her loving family at her side.



She was born November 29, 1946, in Rome, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Mary Yaworski Eldridge, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Carol was united in marriage to the "love of her life", Karl B. Hurlbut on October 19, 1968, in Lee Center; he died on November 16, 2001. In her early years, she worked at the former W. T. Grant Store in Rome. She later worked on the family farm and served on the Oneida County Board of Elections. She was a former member of the Lee Center United Methodist Church.



Carol's real love in life was her family; especially her three grandchildren. She also loved to bake and her specialty was several types of Christmas cookies.



Carol is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Sharon Dana of Boonville, and Mary and Bob Perkov of Cleveland, NY. A son and daughter in law, Kenneth and Diane Hurlbut of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Elaine and Kurt Kimberling of Nine Miles Falls, WA; a sister in law, Faye Eldridge of NJ; grandchildren, Lindsey(Kyerstan Langdon), Aimee and Nathan; and her beloved cat, Cookie. She was predeceased by a brother, Woodrow Eldridge. The family would like to extend a thank you to the St Luke's ICU doctors and nurses who showed care and compassion during mom's last days.



The funeral service will be held Friday at 7:00 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 PM, prior to the funeral service.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome.
